Ok, i'll admit that the house wasn't one of the best ever, but the show is still as good as ever. Whilst the house was slow to build, the show was as slick as ever; whilst the house was not finished, the show was perfectly finished. I could continue with these comparisons, but i think you get the idea, the show was awesome.
Anyway if you didn't have the pleasure of watching it, the house was a refurbished cottage with rebuilt mill building and a connecting steel and zinc link. If you're a fan of big commercial looking houses then this was one for you, but for me i'm not a fan. I prefer a more naturalistic approach, where the house is part of the landscape. And a house just like this was built on Australia's version (whilst not as good because of the absence of McCloud, it was still a great show), here it is if you feel like having a look: http://www.lifestyle.com.au/granddesigns/episode-1-bushfire-house.aspx
I hope one day that i'll have the opportunity to build my own unique version of a similar house to this, but until then i shall continue watching grand designs, and i would highly recommended you give it ago too (unless you don't like houses or Kevin McCloud, then it's probably not for you).
